I'm still undecided on my major, although I'm pretty sure it will be something to do with business and computers. I'm ranked 1 out of 44 students in my graduating class, and I have been ranked 1 since I started going to the school. I made a 31 composite on my ACT/Writing, with a 33 in English, 26 in Math, 34 in Reading, and a 30 in Science. I'm taking Algebra 3 dual enrollment (which counts as Math 100/101/112 credit for Louisiana Tech), and also English IV Dual Enrollment (english 101/102 credit). I made around a 185 or something on my PSAT which is only a few points away from being recognized as National Merit Honors (From what I know). I was nominated for student of the year but lost because the other nominee was an athlete and thus more popular among the staff. I've taken the most rigorous possible classes that I could get at my school, taking all the upper level sciences and both of the high level dual enrollment classes we have offered. We don't have AP or Honors classes. I was in gifted and talented until 8th grade, at that time I couldn't continue because of complications with the instructor and time restraints. I haven't been in too many clubs, but seeing as I'm in a tiny school of about 600 students pre-k through 12th grade, there isn't exactly a plethora of clubs available. I'm not an athlete either, unless maybe we had football, which we don't. I haven't taken calculus because we don't offer it, and only two foreign languages because that is all that is offered at our school. I also have a 3.92 GPA, with my only misstep being in 9th grade when I made a B in English I (I had an A in all subsequent English Classes) However, it was a 93 B, which is 1 point from an A. I have the advantage of being from a rural community in a southern state and coming out of poverty. I'm sure that makes me a bit diverse. I haven't taken the SAT. I've gotten most of the awards possible in my area, the highest honor in our parish is the award from the Academic Award Banquet. I am the only person from my school to get it for every year that I have been in high school. So, my question is, are there any Ivy League schools that would actually accept me? I think the B in English along with the lack of extracurriculars really hurts my chances at a good college. Thanks for helping if possible! (I like Brown University from what I've seen so it would probably be my first choice, followed by Stanford) also i would like to ask what i could possibly do to better ensure my acceptance 4.5 gpa isn't possible at my school, 4.0 is the max the "complications with instructor" was the instructor not being able to go to the school anymore because of not as much pay, not that i didn't get a long with her or anything what can I do to improve it? ive got FBLA, FFA, and National Honor Society, possibly also FCCLA. Is 4 clubs enough? I hate the fact that I had to go to such a small school! i would also like to add that i did join the soccer team but we never actually played because the school cancelled it before we were able to have a game because of budget and time issues...
